Freestone rivers change with rain and snowmelt. Depending on flow, the useful approach can range from terrestrial dry flies near the banks to weighted streamers and sinking lines through deeper structure.

Clear spring creeks reward observation, a low approach and an accurate first cast. Long leaders and small terrestrials or nymphs are common, but the guide adjusts the rig to the fish and conditions in front of you.
