When is the best time to fly fish in Patagonia?
Early season (October 12 to November 30) often means higher water and streamer or nymph fishing. High season runs December through February, and January and February are usually the strongest dry-fly months; March and April bring cooler autumn conditions and pre-spawn brown trout movement. Weather and flow still decide each day.
What gear should I bring?
A 5- or 6-weight covers most dry-fly and nymph fishing; a 7-weight helps with larger streamers and sinking lines. Bring reliable waders, layered rainwear, polarised glasses and boots suited to rocky banks. Ask us before buying or packing specialised gear.
How do I get the Chilean fishing licence?
Recreational anglers need a valid Sernapesca licence. It is included in the all-inclusive expedition. Full-day guests should confirm the process with us before arrival or use the official Sernapesca website linked from our season guide.

Coyhaique is a practical base for reaching freestone rivers, spring creeks and lakes across the Aysén Region. That variety lets anglers fish dry flies, nymphs and streamers for wild brown and rainbow trout during one trip, with the daily plan adjusted to water and wind.
The all-inclusive expedition includes six full guided fishing days, seven nights of partner accommodation, meals and drinks, 4x4 ground transport, catarafts where needed, flies and tying materials, and the Sernapesca fishing licence. Flights, insurance, gratuities and personal fishing gear are not included.
The fishery holds wild brown trout (Salmo trutta) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Size changes with the water, season and individual fish. Our photographs show real catches, but no guide can honestly promise a particular size or result.
Our high season runs December through February. January and February are the strongest months for dry fly fishing in Patagonia, when terrestrial hatches on spring creeks bring brown trout up to hoppers, Fat Alberts and beetles on the surface.
A familiar 5- or 6-weight with a weight-forward floating line covers many dry-fly and nymph situations. A 7-weight and sink tip may help on streamer-focused water. Ask before packing: rod action, line density and leader length depend on the dates, water and your casting comfort.

Most US guests fly to Santiago International Airport (SCL), connect to Balmaceda Airport (BBA), and meet our team in the arrivals area for the ground transfer to Coyhaique. Allow enough connection time in Santiago to clear immigration, collect checked bags and recheck them for the domestic flight.
